plugging into and powering C-58,C-59, and C-67

Post by Gentleman Rogue »

on my '88 Ram 50, are the plugs that plugged into the truck's ECU the ones that i would splice into female plugs from the DSM harness to power everything on that harness? i would assume those two plugs would be mostly controlled by the ignition switch(like i would want, right?).

does anyone have a labled layout of the truck's plugs(saying which wires do what)?

i've seen a few for starions and DSM's, but the truck info seems to be much more scarce...

I've thought about that question myself. From what I know now, the motor wiring hanress gets all its power through the MPI relay. It is this connection that you must splice and connect to the chasis. The actual wiring hanress should be left intact. There should be a ground, an always hot 12v for memeory backup, and an igition hot. Correct me if I'm wrong someone. But yeah, the most important part is to not start hacking away at the hanress. I'm not even cutting mine down till I know the motor is running then I can shorten some wires and start my wire tuck.

i've got the FSM for the 88 Ram 50 now, so i should be good. i dont think im gonna try to plug the whole thing in anymore- just get power to the few wires i need(carb'd truck), and work on stripping the DSM and truck harness's down.
