it could be overkill but if it was me, I would be doing all I could to make sure my gasket doesn't blow in the future. Just had to fix the father in laws head gasket on a van. I know it wasnt the gaskets fault, but it blew too easily.
I just don't see a high comp 2.4's cylinder pressures peaking any higher than a stock 4g63t at stock boost levels and the composite hg's hold up to this for 100k+ miles.
But, I too am a guy who tends to do overkill, so I guess it all depends on your budget and how flat you have the head and block sealing surface as a composite hg is more forgiving than the mls
a dealer composit gasket will hold over 20 psi on stock head hardware. if you go over 25 on a bad tune you will most likley stretch the factory bolts. id say you would be fine with even a felpro and stock bolts
