And if you try bargaining sometimes they'll say "Well in that case its $500" Its best to go there and slowly build a relationship with the business. The more your face is shown next to a hand shoving money towards them, the more they'll associate you with a good honest guy looking to build a monster out of junkyard parts. Once they get that point its alot easier to get a good deal. Some of the yards around here just see me, let me go pull it and if its nothing too crazy they let me have it for $1 or sometimes free.
Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.
