it would appear that its being implied that the oem starion transmission can be drilled for the narrow block transmission. The closest thing I could find would be this:

which is much less than simply drilling and bolting in. Im assuming its not going to be as easy as I first thought to use this transmission with the narrow block. But from some other pictures, it would appear that the top two bolts could be simply drilled and bolted on, and then the lower two bolts could be done as done in the second link posted. I would then use the oem starion starter motor, oem starion flywheel and clutch, and slave and all that stuff. I think it should be relatively low budget.
The reason I wish to go this route is because I have checked all local suppliers and have been unable to find a reasonably priced 87-89 mighty max g63b atx motor (wideblock 4g63). I currently do not have the funding to do the t-56 transmission swap I have planned on doing from the beginning. I have ample acess to narrowblock 4g63's and my 4g54b took a shit on me. I need the car drivable sooner or later, and being a college student rather limits my options. I believe I could do whats listed above for a relatively cheap cost. I am wondering if its possible to do as the original link made it sound and just drill and bolt on the old tranny to the new motor.
anyone whos curious, I already have a 4g63, forrester intake manifold, 20g turbocharger, wiring haress, evo 8 maf, a jdm non turbo 1g throttle body with the tps and throttle cable switched (super oem look for the throttle cable), accessories, oil/power steering coolers, and a heap of other dsm crap to use to make this install as smooth as possible.
I'd just like to hear some people weigh in on my option for the transmission. thanks

If you try to use the wideblock flywheel with a narrowblock, you'll find that the 2 lower bolts will hit the ring gear.
Have you considered one of Bill Hincher's bellhousings? You can do a cheaper Toyota transmission that is just as tough as the T56 for a lot less.
Extending the tabs on the block is a viable option, but still seems a bit silly. The heat might distort the block and you might need to line bore it and such.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.
Im actually interested in a 6 speed, but yeah, manual is a must. The center bore of the lower bolts are located 1/2 and inch in on each side, and there is a little bit of material on the inside already. Theres seriously such close clearence from the factory that the wideblock flywheel wouldn't work? Thats rediculous.
I'd much prefer doing it right the first time than messing with anything other than exactly what I want the first time around and having to come back and do an entire transmission swap all over again. I also like the fact that with the t-56 transmission, my driveshaft will have the 1350 yoke, and a rear differencial swap will be an easy option pending proper axles (which might be as simple as swapping the cups and cvboots on different axles to make custom axles that will bolt up.
The way I see it, there really is no other option for me other than the t-56, because of how much aftermarket support there is for it.
I'd sooner get a d-50 tranny than the toyota or ANY auto. Whats the going price on those things anyways? Obviously I already have the starion tranny, so the tail section (for the shifter assembly) is already taken care of. Also, whats the deal with the d-50 tranny not having some hydrolic assembly on it or something? does that refer to the slave cylinder or something else?
