1988 Mercedes 190e (4g63)

Post by newbenz2 »

Hi everyone,
I Have a Merc that Im doing a swap on. I bought a 4g63 from a buddy that races eclipses. He ran High 9's with the setup I bought and he wants to go faster. Its a 2.4 6 bolt. He stroked it out . Eagle crank. manley h beam rods. Arias pistons. Stock 6bolt head, magnus intake gt35r turbo, crower 288 cams. Around 750hp. Anyways Its goin in the merc. I need help finding a bellhousing. I was told none of the w series trans will work with my hp? Also if not anyone know how much the t56 adapers cost?
Thanks,
Kevin

Just look in 'swap mechanical' and just read the titles of the threads for trans or adapters

Sounds cool, just is it kinda heavy though?

The 190e was developed to be a Group B rally car until they realized everything was going 4WD. The program was later revived and went on to great success in DTM. So basically, the 190e is the Merc equivalent to an M3, Starion or Sierra.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.

that 2.4 doesnt have the RPM capabilities to keep up with a gt42. your pretty much stuck with a 4088 max. thats the reason i sold my 2.4 and went american
