I am going to finish the research work on the T 56 and the intake manifold then a wide block R 154
I gotta finish the 428 ford and the mid engine Civic, then I might build the Fair Lady with the Mits eng when I get back into building the dry sump system for the 4G63. but I gotta put a clutch in my backhoe and put a frame rack lift in my shop before winter

me and my buddy was walkin down the street and we seen a dawg, little white/ brown beagle lookin fucker, big puppy eyes and shiney black nose and he was sittin there with his hind leg up and lickin his own balls
Outta sheer humor I turn to my buddy and say ' wish I could do that!'

My buddy replys ' He looks freindly!

You want an R 154 for the wide block or a T 56 ?

In Ohio we say, 'if you don't like the weather, just wait 5 minutes' I guess the same thing could be said about me :D This is the original starter layout for the GM auto trans set up, I used the Jegs ' super starter' @ about $110.00 bucks, but I had two problems with that, first jegs buys from different vendors and they COULD change at any time and throw off my starter location, second, it sure looked like a standard Toyota/Honda reduction gears starter and I was right
Image
I took a toyota sterter apart and measured it to exactly the same starter as the Jegs set up, these fit the 22R Toyota motor from 1983 to 89 , you can find them at napa rebuilt or in a junk yard for $35.00 or in you back yard under the dawg house where you stash all the really ' kool' stuff for ' someday'
Image
the difference of course is the starter gear, the original Toyota gear must be replaced with the Ford/Chevy replacement gear from Jeg's for $ 15.00 bucks
Image
Image
the major adavantage to the Toyota starter is the shoulder on the mount, its deep enough to get an exact location for the starter even if the mounting bolts are moved a few thousands

Image
the only trade off was the position of the starter, on the Jegs unit ,I could 'clock' the starter in multipul directions, but with the Toyota it is set in one position
Image
Image
It fits nicely , tucked in away from everything like suspension and intake manifolds

So , this will save a couple bucks on the swap, make it easier to find parts and make the unit better at the same time
