noise at 2500 rpm
hey guys I just got my 4g64 wideblock in my quest running and it runs great exept when driving and you hit about 2500 rpm it makes some noise. it almost sounds like detonation or a rattle, I am only running 5si boost and fuel mix on my wideband is about 12:1 and I even took out some timing in that range to be sure it wasn't detonation. i'm using the staock 87 conquest trans with a 240mm fidanza flywheel and a spec 3+ clutch and pressure plate. I used a engine ear listening device and I can hear somthing at idle and it sounds the loudest from the bellhousing. has anyone used this clutch and had any problems, or have any other ideas? Thanks... you guys are always helpfull...

Did you grease the input shaft to pilot bearing? Is pilot bearing new? It wasn't 'washed' with a solvent was it?
I do remember reading an article on how the stock trans are kinda noisey.
Are there alot of miles on the trans?
Does it make the same noise in reverse?
Goes away when depressing clutch?
How stiff or loose was the shifter fork to pivot ball? Or even the the same for the input shaft inside the tube the TO bearing rides on?
Got the right lube or any lube in the trans? (some of my projects take so long that i have to check sometimes if I filled whatever it was taht I worked on)
Just tryin to help.. Errol

kinda reminds me when i told my friend while i was at work, to torque down my flywheel bolts before i dropped in my g54b back in the day. well he ended up tightening the damn flywheel bolts with a regular ratchet wrench!! when i fired up the car it was fine until i started slammin on gears on the freeway!! the damn thing had come loose and i didnt even know why. the car made the noises from hell, kinda what your describing (not saying that this might be the case), so i pulled the tranny, and guess what FINGER TIGHT flywheel bolts!! man i almost killed my friend for that one! lmao!
