Auto to manual Conversion...HELP

Post by StellarDOHC »

Anyone have any experience engine wise doing this? My motor came from an automatic and it has this bushing in the crank flange that i cannot remove. I need it gone because my flywheel can go on with this piece sticking out. I have soaked it in WD-40 and have been hitting it, but i dont want to hit the crank to much for obvious reasons. Anyone...help!!!!

PS i can take pictures of it if required but its just thins piece that fits into the flywheel end of the the crank that must center and align the flexplate and or converter

yeah, it pops right out, you gotta have a pilot bushing puller, its a pulley puller that is inside out and the jaws expand from the inside , then a threaded rod has a nut on it to pull the bushing out, Snap on sell them or maybe you can rent ione from a tool rental place

but they are removable

Easy tip. Fill the hole with grease, find or make a piece of wooden dowel that just fits into it and hit with a large hammer. The hydraulic pressure will pop the sleeve out.

This is interesting, The one I got from a 4g63b had a flange that fits into the end of the crank but then covers the end of the crank and the flywheel/flexplate gets bolted through.. Nothing like yours.

I think it was a 87 MM truck.
