sohc heads.via shaving around

Post by zippo »

Hello all .
just regarding the sohc heads ,
has anybody fitted the 2.4 sohc cam on the starion sohc cam block [Australian 2.0L 4G6x - DJ] ?
i assume this is the wide block you refer to .

i am aware that by doing this the comp ratio will drop dramaticly , is that correct ?

i have heard that this can be over come via shaving around 1.2 mm of the head , is this fact or fiction ?

can the 4g63 gasket be used , or will the 4g64 gasket be req ???

the head in question is from 89-90 hyundai sonata , i dont know if you guys got that model in the states .

the rocker gear and the cam appear to be interchangable from what i can see .

thanks in advance .

the vehicle in question is a starion and i want to preserve its heratige in true sohc fashion .

So you want a SOHC 2.4L head on a SOHC 2.0L block. I would have assumed that the heads were the same, but you guys did get some stuff we didn't.

What are the differences between these 2 SOHC heads? Someone must know the cc of these heads. Is it a 16valve SOHC or something?

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.

So what's the benefit of switching from the stock SOHC head?
