that megasquirt cant be that hard to figure out. He just needs to jump in and do it. Get it done and it will be totally worth it.
It's really not the swap that is hard its keeping yourself from going insane that's the hard part.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.

IF I get time tomorrow Ill go get a ECU for Joe. I know where a 90 or 91 TSI 5spd is sitting and I already got the turbo, and MAS of it. The ecu is still in it. I should be able to get it cheap. The motor and tranny are gone.

what are Quest plates?
Siance.. you dont need the plates. Just bolt the motor in and modify (bang in) the firewall and make a different water outlet, or buy one from Buscher.
They were, however, simple to make. If you REALLY want to move the motor around, I can post the specifics.

Ok cool, so would i have to make trans mounts too? or do those bolt up also? Just to make sure i read eveything on your site correct... Use d-50 motor mounts for a direct bolt up, and modify the firewall, use d-50 trans modify some, no drive shaft moidfacation needed..........COOL!! DO you guys think the D-50 5 speed can handle 300whp? Also do they make performance CLUTCH for the d-50, or would i have to modify the stock talon 5 speed fly wheel and CLUTCH, to have some after market support....
There is always someone faster!!!
Thanks for the reply, i know you answed these questions a million times....the more i read about this swap, the easier it sounds, it can't be this easy....What kind of time frame should it take to complete, if all you wanna do is swap in the engine with d-50 trans? Would i have to move the brake booster if i don't move the engine forward 2in? Dj i know you had this on your site...oh what the hell.....All i have to do is splice the 4g63 engine harness power suply into the starion power, and i have a working harness???? Thats way to easy.....
The only thing i might have a problem with is getting the clutch working corectly using the d-50 trans...Also how about the accelerator cable, do i have to mod it to work... for exaple make fittings or any thing, or can i use the cable and hook it up?... sounds easy....Sounds like I could have the engine in the starion running in a month or less... i decided im going to can the idea of trying to fix the laser, i belive it has some major tranny problems(who would have guessed) but the engine runs like a champ pulls hard.. i belive it's faster than my 2.6 /w18g @15psi!!! Thanks guys!! Oh onw last thing....what about fuel lines any major modding.....like running new fuel lines or does the stock starion lines just need some trimming......thanks again...

you dont need AN stuff for the swap. Oil cooler lines, fuel lines, (low pressure) power steering lines... as long as you use a hose that is rated for that pressure and fluid, you can do it with hose clamps. And if you say "no way... fuel lines with hose clamps...", look at a 240SX... rubber hoses and hose clamps. Corrolla oil coolers... rubber hoses and hose clamps. High pressure power steering lines can be done with a double flare tool and some hardlines bolted to the DSM rubber line... very very
easy stuff.
I dont think the D50 transmission will hold 300hp at all. And if you use an upgraded clutch it will hold less. Its not the gears or anything like that... its the input bearing.
