4g63 4x4 Turbo?
I have an opportunity to acquire a 1989 D50 4x4 Auto or a 1990 MM 2wd. manual. I'm planning on a 4g63 swap in the future. I want 4x4 and a manual transmission with a 4g63T. I read that this cannot be done if I acquire the 1989 D50 since it is an automatic and most likely a wide block. Should I swap an entire engine and tranny (for a narrow block w/manual) to tackle this problem? What are my options because the 1989 D50 AUTOMATIC is appealing, but I may purchase it and swap it over to a manual. This is so confusing... Hell, I might even buy both and use the parts from each!
Someone beam me a recipe. BTW, I have the same post on MightyD50 under the same user name if you want to respond there. I just need the list of parts so that it can be done and I'll read about the rest.
Thanks in advance.

Okay, thanks for helping the newbie, I know we can be annoying. However, I'm not a newbie to the 4g63, justs these trucks. Anyway, the Toyota, is this a manual trans (preferred)? I've heard that the manual 4x4 trans from the D50 or mmm can't hold much HP, but the auto unfortunately can, does this apply to the Toyota too?75COLT wrote:What Mr. Hincher is explaining is that his custom bellhousing mates a w55 -w59 toyota transmission to a narrow 4g63 block. its the setup that I am currently working on.

What I'm seeing is that I will need to remove the motor and trans from my 1989 auto D50, sell it, and then drop in the aforementioned Toyota trans w/ a narrow block 4g63 and get ready to scrape knuckles and develope a whole new profane vocabulary.

Wondering, can the 4g63 drop into the Toyota?
Lastly, is the D50 automatic 4x4 strong enough to hit the beaches without getting stuck? I'll be using it for the beach until I get the parts and time for the swap.
Thanks again
