Oil pan differences??

Post by 77amc »

Good morning kids, I'm stocking up parts for two rwd engines and picked up two max truck wideblocks. 1-2.0, 1-2.4

Stripping them down I noticed that the non turbo truck pans looked the same as the turbo quest pan.. All the block bolt holes lined up really nice but didn't hve the rear seal housing or the front housings on but looked like it matched there also

It's got to be the quest pan, I only have 4 mitsu engines. the 1.6 still has it's on, both truck ones of course are the same and my quest engine (blown)

I'll use the turbo pan for the oil return hole but just thought that it was strange that they are the same from the quest to the 4g6x's.

A G54B pan will not fit a 4G6x.

The flat bottom truck 4G6x pans will fit a DSM though. They make a RWD swap look much nicer, wide or narrow.

Non-turbo truck pan? Was there a turbo truck? I think you might want to start labeling your parts.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.

That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.

There is a small variation between 6 and 7 bolt pans.

This is true. Sometimes I only think in terms of 6 bolts. Generally if I dont specify, just assume 6 bolt.

Even if they are different, why don't you take some pics for everyone to add to the site so that others can learn from this as well.

Any 6 bolt 4G6x pan will work on any 4G6x 6 bolt block. The oil pickup is different on the truck/van pans, but I've used it with both the DSM and truck pans. I dont think a DSM pickup will work on a truck pan though.
