Do you have a link for the OEM Mitsubishi parts seller?jeffball610 wrote:Did a quick search on an OEM Mitsubishi parts seller and looks like about $60 each. Is this for a SOHC or DOHC 4G64? The DOHC units probably have a lower compression piston than the SOHC units. Better for boost.
Why would you assume the DOHC would be a lower compression? The 4G63 DOHC pistons are flattop. The G63B pistons are somewhat dished. With this in mind, I would assume that the 4G64 DOHC piston to be a higher compression ratio over the SOHC.
Sportier engine and evy-tang.

From what I know of the 2.4L bottom end and the 4G63 head combo, it will give you a static compression ratio of about 11:1. That's pretty high for a car built in 1994 (only DOHC 4G64). I think the SOHC units had a much lower compression. Maybe this is all due to the head and not the pistons. I just thought I would add the info about the DOHC 4G64 vs the SOHC to make sure you're getting the parts you want.
