Engine Swap! wanting input

Post by kryo_strife189 »

i own a 89' conquest with a g54b. The previous owner didn't take care of it and it's been oil starved and is in pretty bad shape (spun bearing and scratched up crank plus destroyed con rod). The aftermarket support isn't to good either and so i'm thinking of swapping out the engine with another but i'm not sure exactly which one to swap in. I'm looking for some HUGE hp and tourque but nothing bigger than a 6 cylinder in the end (don't really like modifying the body to fit a v8). I've been looking at the 4g63 but i'm not sure if it's what i want. More than anything i don't want to fabricate too much unless i absolutely have to. If all else fails i think i'm going to drop in a buick grand national 3.8 v6 thanks to some info on another site. I'm also wanting a transmission preferebly a 6 speed manual but i'll settle for a 5 speed. Any information on this subject is appreciated!

The 4g63 swap would require less fabrication than the gnx 3.8. All of the info you would need is right here?

All the info is on here. Weigh your options on the wideblock swap (if your car is already a 5 speed) and really look at your power goals. The stock 4G63T is good for at least 400hp on a good tune and a built motor is good for up to 800hp or more for drag race applications. You might also consider stroked, destroked and the 2.4L options.
