I have posted on the website, some photos and pinouts of DSM harness plugs and Starion plugs too. I'm wondering what differences there are between years. What have other people found on other model year DSMs and Starions as far as pinouts are concerned... I'd love to post all the different plugs and pinouts if you could help me gather the info.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.

Well the '90 and '91-94 ECUs differ, but I believe the pinouts should be the same. The '95 and up have a completly different pinout.

I'm planning on stripping out the Quest engine wiring harness and just swap in the 1G harness. Are there any critical connections other than:

- power
- ground
- CEL
- A/C switch
- Ignition start
- backup power supply

I figured I'ld have the fuel pump and fans on seperate switches that would have to be manually turned on.

Read the how to. Its so easy.

The 90 and 91-94 ECUs differ only in switching 2 pins on the ECU. The ignition system is also differnt between the 2. This is the only problem I see in a swap. I have proven that the 1G ECU can work with the Starion tach accurately. I dont know about the other year 1G ECUs.

You dont need to rewire your fans. They are indepenent of the engine and turn on by themselves when their temp sensor reaches a certain tempature. There is really no point to doing this. Follow the how-to diagram and you can keep all the safety features built into the control relay as far as fuel shutoff are concerned.

The Quest engine harness is so simple. It connects to the car with 2 plugs and a few little bits on the coil by the battery. No other features run through it... simply fuel and ignition.

Or did you just want toggle switches.. I can understand that too. Toggle switches are so cool.

Yep, you gots it. . . I'm a huge fan of things that flip and light up :P

I feel safer running the newer harness b/c I'm not doing a straight 1G ECU. I've soldered on the pin outs for a 2G ECU so I can use the '95 Eprom I have and DSM link. Basically it's a chip conversion that makes the ECU a stand alone.

Check it out: <a href='http://www.dsmlink.com/' target='_blank'>DSM Link</a>

I've heard of it. Its pretty cool. But for the price you might as well go with a full stand alone. Matt got a TEC2 for $800 and I'm sure it has TONS more flexibility compared to the DSM ECU even with the DSM link. And you can use it on ANYTHING.

I'm putting you in charge of 2G DSM wiring if that's what you're doing. I'd love to help you figure out what all the pins do.

True about the price, but then again I own a DSM as well  It crosses over with a few connections.

Not sure what u mean about the 2G DSM wiring. It's still a 1G wiring harness that has had the pinouts resoldered to match the 2G pinouts. I'll dig up some info.

I have the cable and software for the 1G for my Palm Vx.

I've just read on the DSMLink page that the 1G version of DSMLink is finally available :P

need to read that later..

Pinouts! and plugs

DJpowerHaus might be a good opening in the electrical site for people to post in any wiring diagrams and you make a encyclopeia of them for reference! will kill all the other sites for relevant info!
