the little things
I've been doing a lot of researching and reading on this site and I'm coming across some issues that haven't really been concluded such as the timing situation concerning the difference in 63 and 64 cam gears, flywheel/tranny/starter combination. and a ton of other stuff. some of the posts touch on these issues, but after reading, no one has said "use this/problem solved" I for one am going to do this swap into my 89 quest. No parts yet because I want info. first. Need to know what I'm doing before starting. So far basic 64 block reconditioning with a .20 bore and install of oil squirters( where to source them from and any clearance issues?) 2.4 crank w. 150mm eagle rods and wiseco pistons. working on acc's. now.... I'm off topic! basically if those of you are running this combo on a rwd platform can chime in about any issues you ran into and with what part you solved them with would be greatly appreciated.

Re: the little things
http://projectzerog.com/sohc-dohc.shtml Should cover the cam gear issues. It is one of the sites I haven't updated yet, but is next on the list. Should be updated to include this if it doesn't already by the end of the week.willmoodom wrote:I've been doing a lot of researching and reading on this site and I'm coming across some issues that haven't really been concluded such as the timing situation concerning the difference in 63 and 64 cam gears
http://projectzerog.com/transmissions.shtml should cover the flywheel starter issue. I might be wrong though. Tell me what I should add.flywheel/tranny/starter combination.
The site can only be as complete if you guys give me a hand pointing out what I need to add and where.and a ton of other stuff. some of the posts touch on these issues, but after reading, no one has said "use this/problem solved"
I'm about to add info on the oil squirters on this page: http://projectzerog.com/sirius_engines.shtmlI for one am going to do this swap into my 89 quest. No parts yet because I want info. first. Hope that helps.2.4 crank w. 150mm eagle rods and wiseco pistons. working on acc's. now.... I'm off topic! basically if those of you are running this combo on a rwd platform can chime in about any issues you ran into and with what part you solved them with would be greatly appreciated.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.

Yes and No. take for instance the first site you linked me to regarding cam gear and timing. That link tells and labels the parts that will need to be changed but it doesnt state what to replace them with. The tranny was very informing because it gave me choices to go with that WILL work. I assume they've been tested and proven. I am personally going to use the rx-7 tranny/trooper bellhousing. Stock tranny on it's way out.

You dont change the crank sprocket, you change the cam gears.. but you don't have to. The stock 4G63 cam gears work fine, but you will have to remark them. I'll post info up about this later tonight.
