POFunkin Shit RX-7 crap...HELP!
So-I have over 1000 non shifting miles on this RX-7 now. If your in the dark
87 RX-7
4G64
Twin 50 trims- 567whp@30ish psi with stock head/cams
B2600 Bell housing+RX-7 trans.
I have done NEARLY EVERYTHING I could to this think, and I STILL WILL NOT SHIFT past 5k. Its like trying to shift without the clutch. YES, THAT BAD.
Also-It creeps witt he clutch fully depressed, as if I the clutch is re-engaging. (Clutch fully depressed) at 4K, nothing, at 5k, it rolls slowly, at 7k, it lurches like the clutch is re-engaging. I can powershift the thing under 4k without issue. I am seriously ready to set the thing on fire!
Here is what I have changed-
3 different trannies, NO CHANGE IN SHIFTING with any of them
New TOB
New Pilot bearing
New DISC
different fork
Shimmed pivot ball
New shifter bushings
different fluids
different flywheel (both had correct step)
Only think I have not changed is my used- beat up ACT PP. I have a GT42 ready to go on, I am ready to turn this thing back up to 750-800whp. I hooks well enough to pull the tires off boost (did I post the video here) but ITS ALL FOR NOTHING IF IT WONT SHIFT.
Has anyone actually made this work? I hope to god someone can throw me a bone here.

As I stated before-brand new OEM Master and slave, with braided clutch line. Its been blead some 5000000 times.mainstream wrote:Sounds like air in the clutch hydraulic line. If I were you, I'd get a new clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, and clutch line (preferably stainless braided). My Celica did exactly what you described and it ended up being a bad slave cylinder. New parts, fresh fluid, and a good bleeding and it feels like new.

Thats the ONLY thing that has not been changed. If thats it, I am launching the ACT POS into outer space.screemin eagle wrote:sounds like your pressure plate could be a lil salty and warped. dj does run this setup up. seen the vfids his seems to shift

The spline is not the issue-the starquest and Rx-7 share the same spline-Bill Hincher wrote:you can use the Mits clutch but you would need to have the Mazda spline built into the disc, any clutch place will do that for you
The problem is that the clutch selection for a conquest (the flywheel I am using) is very limiter, and it appears that no one makes a twin for it.

Since my options are limited-I would take ANY twin disc!Bill Hincher wrote:what do you need for the right set up? what twin disc set up would you preffer?
For a "bolt on" set up- it would have to be a bolt on app. for a 88-up Starquest. Again-I will wait to buy until I find out the issue I am currently having. If I cant find a "problem", then this tranny set up may not stay in the car.

well, the reason I asked about the clutch is two fold, first, the Mist bellhousing is very short to fit in a very short place in the FWD, when I build the bellhousings to accept the Toyota transmissions, I have a much larger area to work with. I can see where a manufacturer doesnt make a twin plate set up for the Mits, because of space and complexity, but if an outstanding, cost effective clutch is available , I would like to build it into my system so everybody would have more options to work with
Soooooooooooo, if the set up is out there that everyone likes, I will get a hold of the manufacturer and find out what it would take to have flywheels made to fit our needs

Exactally-and thats why I cant use-say a DSM twin or triple.Bill Hincher wrote: but its much more complex than that, I gotta build the right starter into the bellhousing to accept the given flywheel
Bill-you have to remember that twin and triple set ups are very compact. they fit a tipple disc in a DSM application, which has a smaller bell area than my car. Its not the size thats the issue-its lack of demand. How many Conquest guys are looking for twin discs these days?Bill Hincher wrote:well, the reason I asked about the clutch is two fold, first, the Mist bellhousing is very short to fit in a very short place in the FWD, when I build the bellhousings to accept the Toyota transmissions, I have a much larger area to work with. I was given this link a while back,
http://www.10000rpm.com/price.htm
They have a category for the following.
"IMPORT RACING CLUTCHES & FLYWHEELS
APPLICATIONS:Datsun/Nissan, Toyota 2 & 3 TC, 20-22R, 2.6 L Mitsubishi, and Subaru"
Do you think this could be a viable solution. the little research I have done on them is, that they don't really cater to the import crowd. If quantity was involved maybe they could supply them for this kind of swap. Overall they look well made, but at the same time they look rather light/ maybe weak.

Several times-
He just kept saying- "well, I want to be sure its what your looking for. I dont want to send you the wrong clutch-you know? mmm himmmm. If you send out your stock stuff, I can measure it out and make sure its going to work you know? "
I cant tell if he actually cared, didnt know/car about it being listed on his own website, or just wanted another $500 out of me!
