You can also use two small oilcoolers. One under the left headlightunit and the other under the right. A friend of mine did that with his Lancer and it's working well.
I've got mine 5cm higher than the original mounting place.
Ducting is your friend along with a good tight fan shroud. Both you guy's setups look good, but it looks like air will get around the cores (IC or oil cooler) and won't help with the cooling.
This is all just academic though. You'll likely never have cooling problems no matter where you mount it. Just mount it in a very safe place. The only thing worse than it getting bad air flow is getting good rock/metal/other car/tree flow leading to a big messy oil leak getting pulled through your radiator and intercooler by your fans and blown all over your engine bay.
Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.
yea this is a non turbo model lancer 2000_turbo (turbo ones are rare as hens teeth here) so i dont have a standard oil cooler am using one off a early model evo/vr4
no doubt i will lose air due to no ducting etc but it is only a street car so not to worried
dont want to cut anything in the front either as im going for the stealth look
is spaced about 3-5cm in front of the cooler and will end up covering the bottom corner area of about 7cm x 15cm
so not even 10% of the total core area and away from the inlet/outlet
