Sirius Turbo?

Post by dsmpilot »

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone knows anything about the G63 Sirius Turbo wide block motors? I pulled a motor out of a mighty max pickup and on the valve cover it said sirius turbo. I didn't pay much attention since there was no turbo routed in the exhaust, I just figured it might be a jdm replacement. When i got home to check out the side by side differences of the wide and narrow block, i noticed a plugged oil return pipe on the oil pan. I took off the oil pan and noticed there were oil squirters for the underside of the pistons just like the 4G63T. I also noticed little differences between the two blocks like no knock sensor boss, missing one threaded hole for the T-belt tensioner bracket and missing the two small coolant passage ways that flow from the block to the head. Is this a rare motor? I haven't heard of a G63 turbo motor yet.

Very interesting. I haven't heard of one either. Maybe it is an imported starion turbo motor?

This is the reply i got from mainstream from the starquest forum;

yes indeed it is. Squirters are a definate for a turbo motor. The g63b tubo came in all starions outside of the US. I hope you got the head too. I'd love to find one (whole motor) in a junkyard.

Waaasup mainstream! :lol: . Yeah, switching to a turbo motor without a turbo must have been slower than stock. That motor is pretty clean except for the t-belt tensioner which came apart. I think that's the reason they dumped the truck :lol:

Look on my web site http://starion.mrbdesign.com.au see "4G63 SOHC 8 valve" for information on the Sirus engine. All Starions sold in Australia had the "Sirus" 4G63 SOHC engine.

We don't have to swap the 4G63 because we already have one :D
We just concentrate on installing the DOHC head (typically VR4 Galant head is used) which bolts straight on the SOHC block.
