Hello this is my first post!! Thank you all for the wonderful information. I just need to see if I got it all straight now:
Ok I'm planning on swapping a 91-92 eclipse/talon motor into my 2WD 91 suzuki samurai. I want to make sure that I get the right parts to bolt together. With the 91-92 4g63 (2.0 turbo) This would be the 6 bolt?? I need to find a tranny from an 82-89 D50/might max/arrow. This tranny should be a bolt on, using the flywheel off the eclipse? Because the samurai is cable clutch, I should have no issues with the cable fed clutch off the tranny either right? oohh the tranny needs to come off a 2.0 truck also right? Because the others have a different bell housing?
Does anyone know how wide the tranny is?
Thank you for any info.
I'm I on the right track??

Yes, you will have to use the trans from a 2.0l 4g63 or g63 equipped truck.
DJ has all of the parts needed for the trans swap here:

The 2.0L trucks came in either wide or narrow bellhousing. You will need a narrow bellhousing if you want to bolt up the DSM's 4G63. The 89-93.5 4G63s are 6 bolt blocks so 91-92 should be a safe bet on finding a 6 bolt engine.
You will need a FWD flywheel if you want to use the truck transmission. The AWD flywheel is smaller in size and will not work. Be sure to remember that you will need to bore out the center of the flywheel and add a pilot bearing to support the input shaft.
You might want to consider one of Bill Hincher's "Billhousings" They allow you to bolt a narrow 4G63 to a traditionally more reliable Toyota Transmission.
Not to dissuade you from buying my kit or anything! I just think it would be better suited for someone that needs the cable clutch -> hydraulic clutch conversion parts.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.
DJ: Is your kit cable or hydraulic clutch? I'm reading it's a modified cable. This is what I would be needing...cable clutch. I'm still trying to figure out if this swap is even feasible into my samurai. It's been done once before that I know of but was on a lifted tubed front rig, not a stock height sleeper build.
