gearbox flex/strengthing plate

Post by S0LJAH »

thinking about replacing the bottom inspection plate/cover on my d50 trans with a nice big peice of steel

is this going to be of any real benefit or not?

have heard that twisting with the boxes is a problem
seems like a cheap easy option which may help the box last a little longer behind the turbo motor

what size steel would you guys reccomend? 3mm?

Worth a shot. I have always used the waffle bottom from the 88/89 Starion boxes. Not sure if it helped though.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.
