I was just on there looking for it the other day too. How did you re-find that part of the page?
After seeing the pics of the "billet" torque converter posted on here.. I laughed at that page.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.
its under the 1g section. the converter is a piece of shit but the flexplate and adaptor plate are fucking perfect. buschur is still the man in my bookDJpowerHaus wrote:I was just on there looking for it the other day too. How did you re-find that part of the page?

I'd consider him the man if he'd finish up that bellhousing. He only did half the work by making it work for automaticsperegrine wrote:its under the 1g section. the converter is a piece of shit but the flexplate and adaptor plate are fucking perfect. buschur is still the man in my bookDJpowerHaus wrote:I was just on there looking for it the other day too. It would be perfect if it could take a T5.

Does it fit by design or is that just a coincidence? It's been my understanding that it won't actually work with T-56 trannies. I can't find any documented info on it. Plus, the description just says "4G63/Auto. GM Transmission adapter plate." You'd think it would say something about a T56 there, too.peregrine wrote:he did you one better. it fits t-56sShaggyZ wrote:I'd consider him the man if he'd finish up that bellhousing. I'm concerned, of course, about the input shaft length and diameter, the bushing required, and the clutch that must be used. If the plate is the only real custom piece needed to just get the tranny to mate correctly with the engine, then that's great. I highly doubt it.
honestly, if you need a manual tranny so bad go with bills bellhousing. buschur made his adaptor for an auto tranny. so if you buy it you run an auto tranny.ShaggyZ wrote:Does it fit by design or is that just a coincidence? I know the SBC motors all have the same pattern. Actually, that's why I asked if it was just by coincidence (poorly phrased, though).
If I could have a T5 (even a T56) versus a Toyota tranny, I would be willing to pay quite a bit more if necessary. It would be more expensive at first to have a T56 but, in the long run, less work and less money. T5 is light, strong and cheap at the beginning and end.
I'd go automatic if the automobile was solely for track duty; it's not.

Shaggy,
Are you familiar with the R154 at all? It can handle 600 hp easily. I don't know what your power goals are but don't knock it until you try it. What is the reason you do not want a Toyota tranny?
And also you guys gotta stop the you want this or that transmission. Your gonna have Bill stuck on custom bellhousings for the next 5 years.

I'm aware it can hold a lot of power. T5's can be built to the same power and then some. The T5 is MUCH more common and therefore much cheaper to find and maintain or quickly replace. Machine and tranny shops are much more familiar with T5's and, therefore, more likely to be able to quickly and affordably work with any other custom work needed (think speedometer cable, for example). Consider some of the issues recently discussed regarding slip yokes and U-joints. Also, there is some level of compatibility gained with Tremec's, I believe - even if there isn't, I've already tipped the scales pretty hard in favor of the T5 over the R154.91turboGSX wrote:Shaggy,

If it can't be done, I won't have a lot of heartache over it; I'll just find the Toyota tranny.
BTW - I've only seen one shifter for the R154 on ebay and it's nearly $300 if not more (I don't recall exactly). Do a search on shifters for T5's.

just incase you were wondering you can buya t 5 rebuild kit for $150smog wrote:I could go find about 8 for sale in about 2 minutes on supraforums. r154 is easy to get. Who wants to rebuild a transmission anyways... Gonna end up cositng you more for less in the future if you have to go and rebiuld a t5 to take the power a r154 can easy handle.
a retarted chimpanzee can do it while chewing off his hands. they take about 300 - 350 foot pounds of tourque in stock trim before they pop.
ive seen many many many mustangs running stock t5's well into 10's cuting 1.5 60 foots if that aint shocking the shit out of stock gear box i dont know what is. for most of the guys power ranges they are actually going to make a t5 is a good choice they can be had for 100-500 bucks and are EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!
on the other hand the bellhousing is already setup for the r154 and i watched a guy with a mkIII supra row through the gears with ease and he is laying down 480 to the rear wheels.
to each there own. more options are better than one

i dont care who makes the tranny, i want a strong, strong, strong tranny. i want to abuse it and i want it to say "thank you can i have another". i want close gear ratios. and a 6spd would be great. but cost is a huge factor. i want to give bill a call, get everything i need without takeing out a second on the house.
some ppl get to caught up in" what would be the best". i want easy and cheap.
