Post by TURBOWHT »

got my truck running. tryed putting it in gear to drive it and grinds. I used the dsm fwd flywheel with the d50 pilot bearing in it. Im used a new d50 clutch disc with the act 2600 flywheel. i tryed moving the clutch cable manually and nothing. i adjusted the cable from the top and still nothing. what do you think is wrong? am i going to have to pull my motor again? what do you think it is? throw out bearing?

Sounds like your clutch is not DISENGAGIN. You should adjust your cable so that you can only have aboue 1/4-1/2" of play at the pedal. If it still wants to move when pressing in the clutch then try tightening it as tight as you can (JUST TEMPERARILY) to see if maybe it's just the imput shaft that is possibly frozen to the pilot bushing, or if the pilot bearing is frozen.

If you have put an aftermarket clutch in the truck, then you may have an issue with the cable. Most of the cable actuated cars/trucks that I have dealt with have an issue with not having enough adjustment when using an aftermarket clutch. I would keep tightening the cable twards the fire wall untill it disengages. Most of the time after the first few times you drive it, you will have to almost tighten it all of the way (most of the threads showing) before you get the clutch to break anywhere near the end of the pedal throw. There is also and adjustment on the clutch pedal itself, I would'nt mess with that untill you are sure that you are not creating any slack in the cable. if you have bent the sleeve that comes out of the firewall to go around the intake, you may have caused a place for the firewall to flex excessivly, thus reducing the actual amount of throw, and contributing to the problem.
