The block and 2.6L Engined 4x4 transmission you have is certainly a wideblock. You will not be able to bolt a 2.0L turbo narrow block to it. You could do a 2.0L or 2.4L wideblock though. Swapping parts around and a rebuild would be required, but with this stuff reaching 15+ years old now its not a bad idea.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.

Well, I guess there is no adapter plate for this swap either? So now looks like I must find a good 5spd. tranny out of a 2.0L truck . Then find a good donair car EAGAL TALON(90'to92')turbo,or PLYMOUTH LASER RS turbo(90'to92')Been looking for 2 years now for a 2.6L motor around here ,no go.Anyway who the hell wants to put that peace of shit motor back in with a whopping 100hp.
If anybody has some good advise let me know?

Eric P. used to install narrow block 5sp bell housing on to the 4x4 trannies to make such conversions. So there is your "adaptor plate"
I tried doing similar swap (5sp nallow block bell housing onto Starion tranny) and got stuck half way through the job. Fortunatley Eric was able to to make it work!

88 conquest 4g63 now sporting a crankwalked boat anchor
I figured that much, but we aren't talking about rocket science here... Any competent tranny shop should be able to do this swap! I just suck at pulling bearings off the gear shafts
And I gave up because only because Eric offered to help. Otherwise, I would have done it myself.
You know the concept, now make it work!
