Awesome man!! So you had an inch and a half clearance without moving the engine forward? Perhaps theres some differences in the model years of the engines? What are you using, specifically?

Did you pretty much follow DJ's site here? Did you do anything that you think made it easier?

Get some pics up (I can host them if need be)!!

One thing I don't understand about the adapter plates when moving the engine for is the fact taht your bolt holes on each side are now raised by the thickness of the plates... I would think that would cause fitment issues. Though you did say you had to muscle things around a bit.

I'm curious though, why did you decide to raise the engine?

How could you not have moved the motor forward!? I couldnt hardly stick a sheet of paper between the CAS and the firwall. What year chassis is it? Heck.. I dont hardly have enough room behind the head to run my water pipe. It still almost touches the firewall.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.

Damn, I was hoping I wouldn't have to move mine forward!

So, assuming I'm not moving my engine upwards, jsut how thick do these plates need to be anyway?

Yeah, I'll take those measurements, as I'll be using two left mounts as you suggested.

Also if 2" is not enough, how much more room do you think it needs?

We had to raise the engine to clear the Cyclone intake because it sits deeper than a reg intake. [/quote]
Oooh, I really wonder if them magnus intake I was considering will fit... it sits much lower, but it is also quite a bit smaller in girth, it looks like, anyway.

I am also looking at making some filler necks for the swap, to get away from the stock outlet neck all togeather.

Are you referring to the water neck? I'm a bit confused as normally the DSm has a cap on the top and a side outlet. However looking at the Project Zerog pics, theres no side outlet and he just ran a hose from the top of it (makes sense since the radiator has a cap there)... but what happened to the original outlet? Chopped and filled I assume? Anyway, are you guys having clearance problems because you're using a non-modified water neck?

Also, what kind of clearance are you getting at the CAS?

And sorry I badger you with questions! Just trying to be fully prepared!

Yeah, thats exactly what I figured was the problem, since DJPowerhause seemed to have hardly any clearance, but his is modified... what did he do anyway?

Or maybe you can turn the thing around and bolt it on the other way (not sure if this is possible, not at home and can't look at the car)?

I cut that stock waterneck up on the table saw and almost cut my fingers off like 20 times... I kept the threaded holes.. I then used the short end of the Starion intercooler outlet and had it welded up.. on the ouside it looks pretty smooth, but on the inside its pretty ratty.

Good luck getting that thing running. Want a spot on the server for your own little section with how-tos and experiences and stuff?

Well, regarding the clutches, you guys (DJPowerhaus and 89onaquest) both used D50 trannies, but one of you used an AWD DSM clutch and the other had to use a D50 clutch. Can you guys get some model numbers off those trannies so we can compare which is which?

Good info on the D50 setup!

Sounds like you guys are getting real close!!

When you guys get those pics, mail them to me at -j-@cox.net and I can host them (I think you guys only have my old work address).

Also, get some of that modified water neck! I'm interested to see that.

I got my engine out of the front clip this weekend, and will be starting the maintenance soon, and will probably have some questions for you guys soon! ;).
