4G64 7-bolt question
I have in front of me two (2) 4g64 blocks one narrow 6-bolt and one wide 7-bolt. I notice that the narrow block isn't bridged or anything. But, the wide block has a girdle bolted to the mains/block. My question is: Wouldn't this block/main girdle make this block stronger and less likely to expirence crankwalk? This block came out of a '93 Dodge Raider produced late in '92. Did the 7-bolt 4g6_ in DSM's or other Mitsu cars that had crankwalk problems have this girdle or was it just the truck?

If you are wanting to shave some weight off, you are stuck with that flywheel. Where as on the narrowblocks you can use the aftermarket options available for those flywheels whether it be fwd or awd depending on the trans used. Even a wideblock 6 bolt has the option of running a 4g54b aluminum flywheel if so desired.
The other downside to 7 bolt 4g64 wideblocks is there isn't much demand for them, thus guys like Bill Hincher don't build bellhousings to suit them which now you are even more limited in transmission choices.
