a few more quick questions

Post by JasonAG »

ive been researching a lot and i just have a few more questions before i start pooling in some parts for my colt.

does the rx-7 clutch bolt to the starion flywheel? i know it was covered on the site but i was kinda cunfussed. also i was thinking of using the entire b2600 tranny untill i get my hands on a TII gearbox so is the input shaft the same? like to use it with the rx-7 TII clutch?

another question is... and i havent really reaserched this but, just pretty much thought of it. but, does the intake manifold from a d50/MM bolt to a dsm head?
i just thought maybe it would be a better placement and easyer than cutting and moving the stock dsm part.

im pretty sure i will have some more quetions but i cant think of any more right now :?

thanks!

The RX7 Turbo II clutch bolts right onto the Starion flywheel. The splines are the same for the B2600 and RX7 transmissions. If I were you I'd do the B2600 transmission and never look back. There is no need to get an RX7 transmission unless you need to move the shifter back a few more inches.

The D50 intake manifold goes over top of the engine and wouldn't be too great for a turbo setup. If anything it would really complicate the intercooler piping. Also the ports on the head are way differnet. Just take a look at the Engine Overhaul section of the Factory Service Manual. It shows all of this.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.
