I just got to thinking about how much of a pain this has been trying to mate my R154 to my 4G64. Then I thought maybe I should just put a Mitsu KM132 behind it. Then as I got to looking at some drawings and how dumb I think egineers are with their fancy integral bellhousings, I had an idea. Why not chop up a KM132 and weld it to an aluminum plate and bolt that to the R154. I can get a tranny for $75 and aluminum might cost about $75. The clutch fork is already in the right place. All I need to do is make a mount to put a hydraulic slave cylinder on there.
All of this came to me in the last day or two and I'm not sure it will work. I also got to checking other Mitsu trannies and saw that the KM145 4x4 tranny mounts to a "4 cylinder" engine. Could this be a 4G63/G54 or other similar block? The pictures I've seen of this tranny, it has a bolt on bellhousing. I'm headed to the junk yard Wednesday to see what I can find. Anyone got any more info that might expedite the process?
