So ive made up my mind that im going to do the 4g64 swap. My first question is about the cylinder heads. A buddy of mine has a 4g63 that he is trying to sell. The kicker is it came out of an automatic. My question is should i stay away from this because from what i know the exhaust ports are smaller and the turbo is smaller. I mean my goal is to find someone who has just a rusted out or blown 1991. But the auto one has everything with it, wiring harness, ecu, etc. Now i would like to say i have owned 3 DSM's before and i know how to work on them but i do have a lot of questions regarding the whole buildup of the motor. Just wanted to let you all know im here and any help regarding the auto motor would be nice.

The exhaust ports arent any smaller on an Auto. The turbo is smaller as are the injectors (and therefore ECU) and the cams suck too. These are all things you might want to consider upgrading anyways after all the trouble you might end up going trough with the swap.
Definatly consider sticking with a 2.0L using Bill's adapter bellhousing kit to make the swap much easier and durable (therefore cheaper in the longrun). A 2.4L is a great alternative as well if your fine with rebuilding the motor which you might need to do the 2.0 as well.
Lots of decisions to make. Its never been a better time to do a RWD 4G6x!

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.
