its a pull type clutch, that much I know. It's weaker than a TurboII transmission too. Not sure about much of the other details. This is what we call.. uncharted territory.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.

Other than that having the wrong bellhousing (G6 instead of G54B) looks like it should work. Might want to think about tilting the engine though so you dont have that transfercase sticking 12" under the car. As much as the Model 5 transmission tilts on my car already...

...I imagine that the transmission will be pretty well on its side by the time you get the transfer case off of the ground. That will make the shifter position pretty strange. Or you could just jack the thing up, put some Super Swampers on it and call it a day.

and Mike.. the Turbo II is a Series 4 or 5 which falls under the 2nd Generation. The Twin Turbo FD3S refers to the 3rd Generation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_RX-7

Yeah, "FB" isn't really a factory code, it's just a common moniker for the car (only in North America, where a shorter code was needed for the VIN). The real code for the first gen RX-7 is SA22C (probably to do with the "Savanna" brand that Mazda sold them as).

Anyway, aside from what Mike mentioned, the FD tranny is very similar to the TII. IIRC, the FD tranny would directly drop into a TII FC. But as he said, it's a little weaker.

HKS makes a dogbox for the FD. Also, Guru Motorsports makes dog gearsets for the TII, and I believe the FD box, in case you ever need to upgrade in the future.
