The new guy with something to show off
Hello,
I have been lurking around for a while, and I am officially here now and wanted to say hello. I had done the 4g63 turbo swap in a 1990 mightymax like 6 years ago and a 4g63 turbo into a 1989 D50 more recently. I have tons of info and pictures of all of it. You can see my latest creation documented here:
http://www.hotrodcoffeeshop.com/forum/v ... fcc03fd218
I have a lot more pictures and info to add this weekend, hopefully it will rain a little so I will be forced to stay inside and add more stuff.
So..... Hello everybody!!! and I am happy to help out!!

Yeap an injector resistor is something that your engine needs. They can usually be bought on ebay for like $5 if you can't make it to a junkyard to get one.
Oh, and you may also make a mental note that the connector for the injector resistor also plugs into the Idle Air Control Motor and a couple electric solonoid things that control vacuum to the EGR and fuel pressure regulator. Don't get the connectors mixed up or the engine will only run on cylinder # 1 .......don't ask how I know that...it was a rough day.

I was thinking the same thing when I built them. I am probably going to re-do them a slightly different way. I am also going to add a cable strap to the engine to prevent the engine from moving too much and ripping the mounts. Small and big block Chevies used these cable straps in the 1960's, and they worked, so I assume they will still work in 2006.
I absolutely won't bash in the firewall because I think it looks like total crap afterwords. I did it to my last 1990 4g63 turbo mightymax, and I was never happy with it. I eventually cut the bashed in section out and made a new piece of firewall which I also thought looked like total crap. Not to mention the heater box has to be removed either way. Here is my first one.....maybe you have seen it before, maybe not?

Anywho, I am open to other ideas, but not messing with the firewall. I want this engine swap to look 100% factory and so far I think I am doing pretty well..

Nope, I am Jeremy. The army guy is Moises. I helped him a lot when he was building his first 4G63 mightmax several years ago. His truck and my first truck are both long gone, but now we both have extended cab D50/Mightymax's. Mine has a 4G63 and his will have some secret engine. We'll have to wait and see.

I just wanna say hi-I came across your write up about a year and a half ago when I first started my swap-cool to put a name with that and glad you got back into it. Your water pipe setup and intercooler are nice. I may try and copy. As for my firewall...bang, bang, bang.4g63mightymax wrote:I was thinking the same thing when I built them. Thanks, I hope my write up helped / helps you out. As you can tell, my newest write-up on my www.hotrodcoffeeshop.com website has significantly more information and pictures than my first one did. So it should be far more helpful. Let me know if you have any questions, I am happy to help!

Well, I built this 4g63 truck several years ago.
http://www.members.aol.com/bagged1964/mightymax.html
It was originally a 1990 Mightymax with a non-running 2.4L that had been beaten and then sat for a LONG time. There are 4 pictures of it that you can only see by clicking the weird black stripes at the bottom of the page. I basically did the complete 4g63 engine swap, got it running nice, and educated myself a LOT. Then I decided that the truck itself needed too much body/interior work, and it would be easier to swap the whole engine and everything into a nicer truck. So I yanked all the work that I did out of the truck, junked the body, and let the engine and transmission combination sit for several years. In the mean time, I went to college, bought a house, owned about 5 other cars (2 with 4g63 turbos, 1 with a 4g64), and just recently came across a FREE 1989 Dodge D50 extended cab with a blown up motor. All I had to do was go pick it up about a 2 hours away from where I lived. So my friend and I picked up the truck, and unburied my rear wheel drive 4g63 engine swap setup from my parents garage. I then started fresh, with lots of knowledge and a clean slate. I am almost done with the 4g63 swap into my "new" much nicer truck. All I have left is the custom driveshaft (because I moved the engine 3.25 inches forward to clear the firewall). You can see it all documented on my website:

Is like a dream come true.
