94 Galant 2.4 DOHC

Post by mitsusqueeshee »

I'm considering swapping a 2.4 into one of my Starions. Is the 94 Galant DOHC motor a 6 or 7 bolt motor? I was planing on using the internals, head, and timing components from the Galant in a 2.4 mighty max wide block. Would this work? :?:

Why try to locate the ultra rare 2.4L DOHC Galant engine? They only made them for a year and only on certain models. The 2.0L head is the same, the rods are the same, and the pistons are higher compression. Only the cam gears and timing belt is different.

Not sure about 6 bolt or 7 bolt. I thought everything after mid 93 was 7 bolt. Who cares though. If you want a wideblock, you're not going to find it in a Galant.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.

Have a look at the front of the sump where it attaches to the oil pump cover the 7 bolts were not flat across this area. as where the 6 bolt is flat all the way around the bolt surface. the 7 bolts dip down across the front three bolts about 1/2 an inch. I may be wrong BUT THATS VERY RARE!!lol

On the G64B line, it is listed as a 7 bolt. Needs to be changed to 6 bolt.

It's the only G64B listed as a 7 bolt in the list, 10/86-87 RWD Wideblock. Mitsubishi never used the 7 bolt crank before 92. It's obviously a typo.
