Budgets - Who keeps tabs of EVERYTHING? what's your total?

I have been recording EVERYTHING since I started this. Alot of this was to show where I found my prices and how much I payed and how I worked little deals.

Not including time, but including tax, shipping, gas to pick stuff up... I'm already up to:

$7316.60 UPDATED BELOW

I never wanted this to be a $10,000 racecar project. It started as "hey, lets build a spare motor and put a cage in my spare chassis" HA! Now its a fully built 2.4 with full standalone, floor mount pedals, fuel cell, rack and pinion, full cage, RX7 transmission, huge turbo, race radiator, huge intercooler, coilovers and eventually carbon fiber body work. I still think its considerably less than most comparable cars.. not that there arent cheaper fast cars out there, but if you opened up a magazine and saw a car with this level of modification it would no doubt be in the $40,000 range.

I can't imagine how much. I try not to track it, God forbid Ms tjc would find out how much I spend on this "hobby". Even with my budget approach to everything.

so far i think i have....... $850 with the SHP wheels, normal wheels, car, 1G ecu, 1G head and wide block 2.4, cage

well mr damm.... we'll have to see where you stand with it done and on track. You'd be very suprised how much can be spent after you have all the stuff you have listed taken care off. My budget has doubled since AFTER I already had the whole engine / transmission / steering / etc together. Its all the little things that add up.

it's helps alot that i have a pro fab guy as a friend.
so i don't pay for any TIG/MIG fab work.

Just bought some Crower springs and retainers. This in addition to all the other stuff in the last few days finally crosses me over the $8000 mark. $10,000 racecar.. here I come!

To put things in perspective.. I have about $1200 into my longblock.. That's rods / pistons / springs / retainers / cams / rebuild / etc. that's about 1/6th of my total funds spent.

Stilll needs to be tuned....

Not sure if some stuff should be on there. Wheels and tires are like gas to me so I dont know if I should include them or not. And Safety stuff is manditory and is a gray area for me as well.

I also still have a shed and 2 chassis full of stuff that I could sell, as well as some of the stuff that I bought that I am not going to use. Anyone need a -32 inline thermostat from a "Top NASCAR Team"?

I have kept all of my receipts but haven't added them all up yet. My guess is that my 1989 extended cab 4G63T mightymax is around $2000ish deep. Keep in mind it was a free truck to start with.
Once I have a legit inspection sticker I will add receipts and see how ugly it looks. I also have a shed full of spare crap I could sell to ease the pain.
