Just go standalone! Its cheaper in the long run.. you'll see....

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.

Ive got to check to see if i have a eprom ecu in my 91 laser, if i do im just gonna get it chipped for 850cc injectors($100) and us a SAFC($75 buying from my brother) to fine tune with.. this set-up shoud be good for 300-400hp...But i agree dsm link is to pricey once you add in everything you need...I have seen haltech go for 600 bucks, Dsm link will add up be around $900-$1200.....And you still have to run with a mass!!! I emailed fuel injection pro, they said that there fuel computer will work on the 4g63($495) no mass needed just throw a filter on the turbo!!! The only down side is this dosen't control ignition, it's extra ($195 i think) So for $700 you can have a a full stand alone...They also sell a handheld tunner ($195) but you can use a laptop!!! hope this helps..

Buy a eprom ecu($250) No one wants to run with the stock mass so ($50) for a GM mass ($200) for a 1g-2g mass translater ($595) for dsm link..do the math... That being said i herd great things aout the DSM link ease of use, great control.....Im just saying for the same price you can get a full stand alone...

Set-up im going with.. unless i find a cheap stand alone..

chipped Ecu( eprom ecu+ performance chipped $300)
SAFC ($75)

your high. dont spread misinformation on here. its $600 and you can use whatever maf you want. if you choose to use a gm maf yeah its more expensive but it would be more expensive if you did that no matter what. if you dont have an eprom then consider something else. if you do then thats just a bonus.

If you have a 1G EPROM and your shooting for 400HP, just use that. You will need to know some linux, hex, binary, and limited assembly skills, but most of the hard work has already been done for you http://www.dsm-ecu.com/

You will need a chip, zif sockets preferably, and a 3Com 3c905b ethernet card. All of which is around $30. http://esm.logic.net/public/dsm/ecu-flashing.html

Desolder the EPROM chip, solder in a socket, and go to work. Add in a 2G MAS for around $50, and it's good for 400HP with plently of extra options and code just like TMO http://www.tmo.com/prod/eprom/stages.shtml and endless custom mods. Or go even farther with a MAFT setup.

I didn't spread misinformation, all the prices i listed are correct....Wether or not you go that route is up to you...Im just stating the a fact..If you have a eprom ecu than thats a bonus, however most of us don't so i went with that...Look at my post... I said "once you add in everything" you not going to get a DSM link up and running for the price alone, unless you have a eprom ecu!!

I know that...
What i am saying is i thought the dsmlink didn't need the mass translater to use a GM mas.

ah ok  now were on the same page. thats a future mod to be coded into a later version of dsmlink. maybe by the end of this year or so. if it works then i can sell my translator to recoup some money.
