If you need such a fast response, why dont you tell us what parts you are using?
What's the starter from, the block, the transmission, the flywheel? What are the US equivalents and what years? Is it a wideblock setup or a narrow block?

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.
after doing some research it looks like our GVR4 flywheels are slightyly smaller than the DSM ones (5mm or so)
I'm really not too keen to take the engine/gearbox out again so i may end up maiking an adaptor plate of some sort or find a starter with a bigger pinion.... any idea of a starter that will bolt up with a bigger pinion? that would just be too easy

im a little confused on this aswell.the FWD DSM flywheel is bigger than the AWD flywheel.so how is it the are both compatable with the mm tranny. i know first hand you cant use a FWD flywheel on an AWD tranny wont fit and the other way around the starter doesnt mesh properly. so witch one works please

Interesting. Can you find some links and maybe photos? I could definatly be wrong here. I always heard it was the thickness of the flywheel (the distance from the crank to the pressure plate) that was different. Pictures and measurements woudl be really helpful.
Are the starters the same? Could this be solved using a different starter?
I know for a fact that my 90 FWD Manual DSM flywheel went together fantasticly with my D50 tranny.

So I picked it up and took it home and prepared to put it in... BUT I had not known about the flywheel at this stage! I had a GVR4 flywheel but when that was put in with the new starter mounting plate - it wouldn't line upSo I had to source a FWD Turbo DSM Flywheel from the states as it had a larger overall diameter (about 5mm) to allow the starter to actually reach the ring gear and crank the motor!
The top left is the FWD DSM Flywheel (thanks to jmauld from 4g61t.com for sending it to me!) The one to the right of it is the stock VR4 flywheel that is too small in overall diameter for the km210 bell housing. Below that is the stock CB 1.6 n/a 4g61 GSR flywheel (215mm and non stepped) and to the left of that is a stock 4g61t 4WD Mirage/Colt GT flwheel (exactly the same size as the GVR4 one)

Looks like you might be on to something. Has anyone ever used a 4WD flywheel with the narrow block KM132? Is there info on the site that will need to be changed to clear things up in the future?

So I'm trying to correct this without pulling the gearbox out again, and buying a new flywheel.
At the moment I have the guts out of the starter and I'm looking for another assembly with a bigger pinion that I can transplant into the mitsu casing so it will bolt up.
I'm determine to find a solution for this, so will keep you all posted..

I used an AWD flywheel, but when you put the sandwich plate up to the bell housing the starter bolts were out. i had to plug and redrill the starter bolt holes, and if you are using a cable clutch the throwout bearing needs to be about 8mm longer, you will find you are on the last of the clutch adj' to get the clutch to work properly and you do loose the right mechanical advantage angle in the pull as well. i have sent you a PM. tritons i know upside down now so ask me what you want and then we can post good info for others.
DSM flywheel station transmission
I just had a fwd turbo DSM flywheel fit with a pilot bearing. I am trying to put this on a 4g63 wideblock with a 87 starion transmission. What plate and starter might I be able to use to get this to work? Or is this hopeless?
