A week ago I acquired a Plymouth Arrow hatchback with a 1.6. I know that's the 4G32, and hope that I am not off topic enough to get the thread booted. This is perhaps the best community of nuts and bolts mitsubishi people, which I am as yet not.
I had to do some serious fiddling to get things working, as the rig doesn't have a key. For some reason I cannot seem to find a new lock cylinder. I ended up sawing through one of the supports before discovering the steering lock is not a pin and plate. I then took a chisel to the anti-tamper bolts so I could steer while dragging it home. No brakes, so that was a ten mph drive.
I got it to run on starting fluid after putting the plug wires on in the right order. The stock carb is a tiny two barrel, but the size of a quadrajet. It looks like a nightmare. I'm considering a swap to a Holley 5200, but it may not be a copy of the preferred model of weber for these. Has anyone fooled with this modification? I also dislike the cast iron exhaust manifold with the integrated catalytic converter. I had one of those cause me trouble on a D50. I'd buy a header, but haven't found one for the 1.6. The 1.6 does seem like it's a solid little mill; it was used in forklifts and bobcats as well as the car.
I also came up with a couple of questions that don't seem to be readily answered online. First, I am supplied with a four speed rear wheel drive gearbox. What is it? Second, there is a switch on the firewall side of the ignition assembly. What does it do?
The same guy I bought the car from has a D50 that looks like a good candidate for a 2.6 swap. I just need to find a new cab and fenders for it, it was rolled. It's also a 4wd model.
Anyway, I'm the new member from Idaho. I'm a farm equipment mechanic and a tinkerer.
New, with lots of questions.

I'm not sure on the Arrow, as to what transmission that is, nor the switch, but the guys over at http://classiccolt.net can surely answer your questions. The carb should be a Mikuni, I've rebuilt several and had good luck with them. Many people like to swap to a Weber, but I've not gone that path.
I'm about to build a high compression 1.7 (the GTO version of that 1.6)
