Water pump pulley

Post by kxtd500 »

Hello everyone,

So getting closer on my build and this issue came up. Using the Jay racing front water outlet relocation kit with a D50 water pump. I found the stock pulley hits the bottom bolt hole for the thermostat housing when bolted on. Also the shaft on the D50 water pump is smaller so would need a collar or some other type of pulley. Anyone else have this issue? Or is there another known pulley that works?

Thanks for any help on this, started this about 4 years ago to build a 4g63 wide block. The Machine shop has had this for about a year and just got my long block back last week! So been waiting for a while but hope to have this running in the next few months.

Thanks Mike

Look under this http://projectzerog.com/plumbing.shtml
about water pump. Maybe to grind down the water pump and use a DSM pulley.

I had looked that over before, the issue I see is the entire pump seems to stick out more from the block. So if I pulled that flange off and pressed on the regular DSM flange It would never be able to press all the way back to line up with the crank pulley. Then the issue with the front water outlet is still an issue. with a 5.25" diameter there is just no way it will clear.

Was hoping maybe another pulley was out there with a different offset and smaller diameter would be known by someone? Been searching different 4 rib pulleys but not finding anything close. They all seem to be 5" or larger or jump down to a 3" or smaller for alternators and such.
