Cam Angle Sensor Elimination

I'm in the process of doing a 4g63 rwd swap into my 93 rx7. the motor is mounted and the back of the head in very close (1") from the firewall. I'm already doing the water line relocation to the front of the head but i really dont want to have to cut the firewall up for the CAS. My motor is a 1g 6 bolt motor and im not doing a 2g head on it, so my question is, what do i need besides the kiggly crank trigger set up. Also can this be done with DSM link for tuning?

I just looked at the instructions on the Kiggly Crank Trigger and it is not what you are after. It use it to supplement the CAS on the head for the AEM standalone computers.

I am guessing you want to remove the rear Cam Angle Sensor entirely for space. Some have used parts from other 4g63s that create a front crank hall sensor. It takes several different parts and there is a thread that documents it. Search the site to find it.

The function can't really be eliminated, the computer needs that input to provide the spark properly. So beat the firewall with a hammer...or re-locate it.

When I did Craig's car, his 1G head from Slowboy Racing had provisions for the cam angle sensor on the front. We decided to use the intake cam trigger (2G style) and then I fabricated a bracket down where the balance shaft belt used to be. Had to make a trick trigger wheel out of a 1G crank plate:

On the swap I'm currently doing, I had a 1G head without the provisions. Rather than weld the head, I designed a steel plate to mount to the front of the head that would hold TWO 2G style sensors. One on each cam gear. One sensor is the standard 2G style cam sensor on the intake cam, the other is an intake cam gear on the exhaust cam with a custom trigger wheel with 4 teeth (Cams spin at half crank speed so you need to double the two teeth that would have been on the crank trigger wheel).

This is still being developed. If it works I'll put up photos, measurements, templates and a full write up.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.

why couldn't you just take the CAS off the head, plug the hole where it used to go, and run the kiggly crank trigger 6-bolt version?

The page you are looking at may not have this statement, some that I've looked at do not.
