Need some advice on the next project- what car should I swap

Post by GSXftw »

Hey guys whats up. Just joined and Ive never felt so at home on a forum :) So my roster is I have a-
91 GSX- 12.61@110
77 Camaro- 12.95@108
82 supra with 7MGTE swap.
Ive gone back and forth with these cars but Ive gotta say the Mitsi has totally won me over. Theyre just awesome. I JUST finished my supra doing paint, engine build, the full 9. and just like to say Im totally disappointed. I chose the wrong swap and the wrong path, I wanna do a 4G63 swap in something and Im not sure what, so thats what Im asking help on, my main concern is weight, I want it to be light as shit. I plan on running it at the drags on a normal basis and wanna be in the 10s. As you can see I have a few 12 sec cars but its time I build a purpose built, fast, light car. Ive already started gathering engine parts and powerplant will probably be a 2.3 stroker mated to an R154 trans. So getting to the point- what car should I swap? I had one thought of doing the swap into the 82 supra I have, only thing is the rear ends are a 7.5 and are far from strong, along with the axles and what not, then it wouldnt be that light, it weighs 3000 w/driver and its already pretty stripped. I was leaning towards a fox body mustang notchback, RX-7, 280z, even a Miata. Thoughts? Thanks!

How about something odd like a chevette? Already rear wheel drive. Light weight being that it's around 2000lbs. No one would think of it having a 4g63 with I'm guessing large turbo on it. I've seen then with big block chevys in them so fit shouldn't be a problem. People do drag race them so finding some info on swapping stuff shouldn't be all that hard.
