I think you'll be done before me, but we're both on the same path here. Mine's just going into a fastback. Nice job so far!

Awesome build! I have always been in love with the dsm drivetrain (owned and built a few too many) but the FWD configuration isnt the greatest (lets be honest, even the AWD setup is based on a FWD configuration, and is still a pain to work on at times).

Ive always thought it would be interesting to 4g swap a 240, thus I have been lurking around here for the past year or so checking back in from time to time. I never expected the 4g to almost drop right into a 240 like that though. That's awesome!

Have you thought about what your doing for an exhaust setup yet? From the looks of it, most common 240 swaps as well as the stock KA motor have the exhaust manifold on the drivers side of the engine bay. Do you plan on using a regular aftermarket catback for a 240 and fabricating a downpipe to go underneath the trans to mate up to it? Or are you planning on doing a full custom exhaust? If the car is lowered, I would think it would be best to attempt to route the catback in the stock location for fear of ground clearance issues routing it elsewhere.

Thanks for the amazing thread! I am sure any future 4g240 swappers appreciate your documentation as well!

Following your project as well, have you made any progress on the build?

I am starting a 4g swap in a s13 240 as well.

Ive made a little progress. Custom o2 housing facing the rear. And some other things.

Actually with my current circumstances I am looking to sell it as is if I can. Maybe for $4500 or something if someone wanted to pay the money. The whole car comes with $6-7000 worth of parts, including the body etc.

Come to washington and buy it. Its sooo far along but it is what it is. Things come up.[/img]

Been out of town for months. Will be back in a few months. Most likely for sale (running) in July/August if people are interested.

Ok back to working on the 240!

Ive got my wiring harness sitting in my engine bay and it is looking straight forward right now. It looks like the EVO 8,9 TPS directly swaps. (correct me if im wrong) The plug fits and from the forums Ive seen they indirectly show that the ground and votage (outside wires of the 3 total wires) are in the same place as a 1g TPS and the plug directly plugs in.

Pins:
1- 5 Volts
2- Signal
4- Ground

Next I am at the point where Im getting closer to starting the car. Just trying to figure out what are the minimum wires I need to do so. (any help appreciated.) I need to Wire my Alternator and Starter (Time to go on Nissan forums now).

Other things I have left to do are just the normal random deals. Coolant lines. Exhaust. Check my fuel lines for leaks. Route turbo oil feed lines and return lines. Water Feed/Return.

After the wiring is done I am home free. I was saving it for last but now I am working on it now so the "hardest" part will be over. Pictures soon....

Any progress on the wiring? I know you were hoping to basically make a jumper harness from the DSM engine harness to the S13 chassis harness, and I would love to see if you figured that out.

Any chance your going to the Shootout this year (in 2 weeks!!)?

I am focusing on the engine bay wiring right now. Nothing on the inside yet.

I used the hose from the stock 240sx brake booster to go to the evo manifold. Just cut it and reused the check valve.

Almost have all my sensors hooked up. Not too proud of my fuel line setup. I suppose it works for now.

Excuses! People drive out from everywhere! English Racing rolled out this week from Camas for the Shootout. I'm going to try to make it out next year hopefully, haven't been to it since 2010, it's a great time if you ever get the chance to go :).

Update

Post by DoubleJ »

Slowest project - Had no time to work on it. But there's hope. Starter is hoked up. Car is 95% complete. Not to bad for working on it a couple days every 6 months. Still for sale but would like to finish.

I got the car on the road! All licensed and insured. Got my timing all set. My oil return isn't the best setup so going to redo that. Also have a boost leak. But this is all of the easy stuff to fix.

The 4G63 240sx is complete!

Started this years ago so a huge relief to have this working and driving.

The wiring is really not hard. You use all the same wires as any other 240 swap. Maybe more will start dropping a 4G in!

It's starts up and runs great. Fixed the oil return. Looks like whoever sold me the 2g head gave me one cap that was wrong. So now the car prob needs a new head.

Funny that now Engine work is the "easy" part. There is so much room in the engine bay.

Ninja fast reply. :)

That sucks RE the head, but as you say it's all easy from now after getting in fitted and running. :)

Sounds like you have some lumpy cams in there?
