Adding oil squirters to a Mighty Max block

Post by Silverjoel »

What do I have to do to add oil squirters to the 4g64?

You'll need to machine the little pads flat on the block and drill and tap holes into the oil gallery. I have pics of this stuff on my other computer, so I'll post them up later. You'll also need to find oil squirters. All said and done, if you go with forged pistons, you probably wont NEED oil squirters, plus there are gains in oil pressure where you need it most and you reduce points of failure not having them.

I'll still post the pictures later.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.

It is largely a personal preference decision. There are many discussions on DSM site about this.

My 20 cent worth: Oil is better at the bearings than flying around the crank case. heat generated at the piston crowns is more from a lean running mix to give these engines a good MPG rating, Tuning for A/F will do more than the squirters in the long run and to have the oil where is is needed most? crank walk never heard of it!!!!!!!!!!!
