So me and a buddy are planning on making 2 lotus 7 chassis cars (locost cars), my plan is to use a 4g63 out of an evo 9 and a t5 world class transmission from a gm chassis truck along with some irs rear end of unknown origin as of right now.
Problems are everywhere as you can imagine, the turbo and manifold will not be flipped, cooling will be modified. The problems come in with the transmission. Does bill make an adapter for a t5 transmission at all? I know buscher makes an adapter plate, though I'm not sure if it works for manual transmissions. I'm also unsure of what clutch and flywheel to run in such a setup. As for the rearend I'm thinking a low final drive ratio would work, close to 3.2 but as of right now I have no idea what will go down that far and has irs, not only that but can also handle a bit of abuse. So far my thoughts are stock evo rear end (anyone make really tall ring and pinions?), r200 from a 240sx, or a readily available r160 from subarus.
Any help would be fantastic.

Actually I just did a bit more digging, with the 93-95 f body v8 t5 transmissions the gear ratios are about perfect if I use the evo8 or evo9 rear diff which is a 3.307 gear ratio... so I think ill be good if I just use the evo diff. Should give me a top speed in first around 55. Plenty I think.cruuz wrote:Did you check the auto trans cars? I'm pretty positive they came with a 3.1x

The t5 bell housing bill makes is for a fox body mustang t5. They are easier to find. As for a cheap IRS setup get one out of a 89 & up thunder bird. They use the 8.8 gear set so you can buy almost any ratio you want and there are tons of upgrades for them. If you have a little more cash get the same setup from a 03 cobra it has aluminum components to save some weight.
