Quest AUTO trans swap.. No, the 'other' way

Post by 77amc »

In this low mileage 86 ram50 that I have is the baby 904 trans that just isn't getting the mpg that I'm looking for. (like 14!!)
SO, I have a couple options.
1, 87 ram50 auto 4spd
2, 88 quest auto but the linkage is on the other side, and NO TV cable.. (but what looks like a after-market converter?)

Which would be a better trans to install in my 86 truck?
It would help by stating why also, not just 'yup' it'll work..
Just trying to get as much info as needed to make a good decision because either one looks to be a little work to do.

ON another note, Has anyone made a linkage for an auto with the kick-down (TV)cable attached to a 32/36 Weber carb?
I've emailed and called several suppliers that SELL a weber carb 'kit' for an auto, but they all say that one needs to fab a linkage of some sort. (which doesn't make a whole lot of sense)

Thanks for any GOOD input.
