well i got a replacement pump for my Max this morning and realized the shaft coming out of the oil pump is larger than the one for my truck.
86, 1997 C.I. 2.0 g63B
after some digging around with the numbers and such i find out (witch i should have tripple checked earlyer) the g63b had 2 oil pumps i think depending on witch model the engine was getting installed on. mine's plate is ruined but the pump is alright
my question is thus: can i get away with getting a timing gear from an older galant or such that has the same oil pump and will it still line up and stay in time with everything else on the truck engine? or does nobody know and i should just try it myself?
my stupid for not doing the proper research before ordering parts but im on a low budget rebuild of the engine and need to get this thing put back together and driving...
any advice is much apreciated

thanks for the info, had no clue there were so many different pieces for the dammed thing! anyway to answer my own question yes an 83-92 Galant oil pump can be used (as it is the same as the G64 oil pump) however you have to get he oil pump gear that runs off the timing belt to match the pump the factory 2.0 g63 gear will not fit...
so just in case you have a g63 and the oil pump fails rest assured you can buy the 70$ one off ebay rather than the 140$ one that i only found 2 of... just takes a trip to the junk yard or parts yard or buddys house to get a gear off a g64 pump.
now i just have to find where the stupid vacume line for the timing advance hooks up and i will be golden..... >_< i need a new carb

1 of those pumps is probably the G52 to think of it, ASA doesn't really clarify on that. The gears are relatively cheap and if you think $140 is expensive for a g63 oil pump...lol, A OEM Mitsu oil pump is going to run you at least $200, without gears, over $300 with.
