2wd Tranny vs 4wd Tranny D50 Narrow block.

I found a bunch of D50 tranny's Narrow blocks on Car-part.com in my area. 150 to 300 dollar range. All 2wd.

Can I take one of these GOOD trannies and swap on the tail transfer case off my 4x4 tranny that is destroyed and it will be a 4x4 tranny again right?

Its just the tail half that makes it a 4x4?

yes and no-- you can change the tail housing over, but the output shaft is a lot longer for 4x4, so you have to swap that as well for your transfer case. its a much bigger job than just the case
