4G69 block?

Is anyone doing any research on using these? I have a guy local that is replacing his EVO8 block with one of the 4G69 2.4 blocks for the bump in displacement. He is telling me that it is more or less a bored out 4G63 so you don't get the block height and accessories issues of the 4G64. Considering usable 4g63s may be few and far between they may become a very good option if he is correct squirters missing aside and changing the head to a earlier DOHC.
