New 4G64 piston option?

Post by TronCarterIII »

I found these pistons on ebay, and discovered the 4G69 engine at the same time, (which I didn't know existed). It seems like these would be perfect drop-ins for a 4G64 conversions. 22mm pin, 87mm bore, and 100mm stroke. These ones even have teflon coated skirts. About half the price of forged. :/

I dont know what the compression would yield, but they have a pretty good looking dish to them. Just kind of worried about the valve reliefs, or lack there of.

Maybe, The 4g69 are pretty much another way for the Evo guys to go 2.4 if they have MIVEC, but the G69s are more of a true 2.4l than the g64 is. The g64 is 2.351cc and the g69 is 2.378cc.

Yeah, the .5mm difference in bore size gives it that little bump in displacement. Since a 4G64 would have to be bored out .5mm, I guess they aren't true "drop-in" fit, but it would be a non-issue on a re-build since the block would probably go to the shop for oil squirters, balancing, etc. anyways. I found a set for $100 (+ $88 for rings)! I wonder if they are Hyper-Eutectic, I think I will call ROCK and ask.

I got a call back from DNJ ROCK products. They are indeed T6 heat treated Hyper-eutectic (High silicone content) with teflon skirts.

The Valve Reliefs still look pretty shallow though. :/

I ended up with forged JE's... The valve reliefs in the piston look really shallow, that is why I decided not to try em... :/
