Fuel 'rail' fitting. JB weld, or tap and screw it?
Can't find a new oem fuel feed line so I ordered some parts for a SS one. I ordered 2 12x1.25 fittings that are 6an on the other side and some SS hose and fittings.
Will a 12x1.25 piece fit into the rail or does it need to be bigger? Can I tap and thread it in? Which I prefer or should I jb weld it in? I tried to take off the rail and one screw came loose and the other snapped my screwdriver so I am just going to leave it as is for now and see what I can do to get the car running.
Also side note: The wire from the coil to the distributor cap keeps falling off. I pulled back the rubber boot and put in the metal piece then slid the boot over but it still falls out, even when trying to start the car.

Well took a shot today and took the stock feed line and cut off the skinny stock metal line and ground it smooth. Drilled it out with a small bit and went up to 3/8. 3/8 was actually just a little too big, but hey it's trial and error right. Went to my dads house and got a 1/8 NPT tap and tapped it, but the threads didn't have enough bite to it.
Also had a 6an to 1/8th npt fitting so the tap/screw didn't work and I didn't have any jb weld but my dad did have some pc-9 2 part epoxy. I think that is what it's called. Put it around the threads on the fitting and the outside and put it on. Stuff will cure in a day and label says it will cure underwater
and is good to be used on fuel.
It's far from pretty but I had all the stuff and so it was free. I'm going to sand it smooth tomorrow and put a coat of paint on it and it will look good.



Cleaned out the inside with a qtip so it didn't restrict any flow.
The 6an fitting tapers down on the 1/8th part but I will drill it out with the 3/8th bit and it will be perfectly fine. Besides the biggest restrction I think is the banjo bolt on top of the fuel filter which is getting removed.

Fuel handling isnt something you want to get wrong. I'd be apprehensive to do it this way. Is it really that hard to get a tap?

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.
