I picked up an 88 white 5spd conquest that is in need of some tlc. Needs a fuel pump and water pump. New headgasket and other misc parts are on there.

I have about a million questions to ask so if someone can point me in the proper direction it would be much appreciated.
How reliable are these stock motors? Anyway to prevent the heads from cracking? I am going to just get her up and running for the time being and just enjoy it until I decide what I want to do with a swap. A v8 would be awesome so would a 4g63. Searching on this forum is the first time I have heard of a wideblock and narrow block 4g63 and I have been in the dsm game for 5 years.
Any thoughts on what would ideally be the easiest and less expensive way to go? Also I can't find anything on motor mounts or anything. Figured I would say hi and show a few pics before I get back to searching.
