The B2600 was probably sold there too. How do you pronounce your first name Martijn?

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.

The back of the intake has been blocked off with a flange. I've rotated the throttlebody 180gr. I diddn't want to replace my ignition coils, and yes, I don't have the ISC motor anymore. That means I have to block off the hole were the ISC was.

When the engine is cold, it sometimes stalls. But when I drive the car for 1 mile the idle is just fine. When the engine is hot, it never stalls! I think it's all worth to remove the ISC, because of the many bennefits doing this.

My racecar is like this, I have the throttle plate propped open to control idle. It does stall sometimes when cold, but for the most part, it's pretty good.

Can you guys tell me how much power/torque the 88-90 Starion gearbox can hold?
Are you guys always talking WHP or CHP? I now have 380HP (cranck) and 422NM of torque. I have to rebuild the gearbox, because of bad synchro's and bearings...
It never had a rebuild.
What kind of gearbox oil should I use?

Thanks,

Martyn.

go with the b2600 bellhouseing and rx7 turbo II trany.

djpowerhaus can tell you more about it, and he has the trannies and crossmembers. the hard part is finding a bellhouseing

you are probably at the limits right now of the starion tranny. i use redline or royal purple gear oil.

The rimms are 16inch. After the engine upgrade I drove the car for 1 month, then the gearbox started to make noise. It sounds like when you drive in reverse, but then in all gears!

I've had one appart and that was scary enough for me to not even attempt to put it back together.

But yeah.. mine sounded like this for 6 months before it finally gave out:

I finally did it! I blew up my engine! I lost all my oil after a full throttle run, but i diddn't turned my engine off, because I tought it was a waterleak. After 30 sec I noticed that there wasn't any oil pressure. By then it was to late! After I removed the oilpan, there was a lot of metalflake on the bottom of the pan. I also removed one maincap, the bearing has lost a lot of metal. But that was not all! Three maincaps were broken in half!!

Image

Image

The crank is also old metal for the scrapheap!
Image

So, that means that I have to rebuild the bottom-end. The luck was finally on my side because we still had a 1G engine somewere lying in the garage. It was a 1G Eclipse non turbo engine with 2000miles on it. It was a bad engine because it used 1L oil every 300miles or so, but the cranck and the maincaps were as new, there was nothing wrong with them.

Image

The engine is now lying at the engineshop, waiting for a new linehone. I also made a girdle for extra strenghtening.

Image

Image

I almost forgot! I also bought a set Eagle rods, always better then the stock shotpeened bigrods!

The starion box will take heaps, new bearings shim it right, put in 500ml of dextron ii and the the rest 80W gear oil. they are not the best box to try and do a quick flat change with but check the clutch plate rivets if they have a hole right thru them as they tend to stick to the flywheel or pressure plate with a vacuum! if they are solid rivets carefully drill a 1/16 hole through the centre of the rivet! and you will play the 450hp game with it!

That's good news blue1! I've got a 88-90 gearbox waiting for new bearings and synchro's.

Image

This is the clutch i'm using. It's a centerforce dual friction. Can you tell me what rivets are? (I don't know the translation for that word) It's the 225mm clutch.

Thanks,

Martijn.
